"Elle!" a voice echoes from the house.
oh crap. I'm in the attic. shnaps.
"Comming!" i call out. I run to the window. pry it open and shimmy myself onto the storm drain. I reimbursed it last year for this exact purpose. I run inside at the exact right moment.

I open the door, pulling my blanket closer. The porchlight illuminates only a few feet from the house. No one's here. I walk out a few steps, I start to analyze my surrondings.
I hear the door shut, I spin around, my jaw drops.
"Elle.." the voice begins. His hand blocks me from the door. The safety of my house. Safety is on the otherside of this beast.
"No." I said. My voice hard and steady. Yet inside I'm shaking. Why did i come outside? He sighs, and plays with his hair. He looks around anxiously.
